Fires along Interstate 45 emphasized the fire danger in Leon County. The pictures here were at IH-45 and Hwy 79. Leon County Commissioners took action that they were careful to point out was not aimed at stopping high speed rail in Leon County, but to hold it responsible for its actions in the county. Specifically they took action on amendments and additions to Leon County subdivision regulations regarding construction permits to make sure that they applied to HSR.  More...

In addition to many new teachers this school year, BISD also welcomes three new administrators. Two will serve on the high school campus, while the other will be at the elementary campus. Corey Hickerson is the new principal at Buffalo High School. He comes to Buffalo after spending one year as principal at Rice ISD. He is married with a daughter and another child on the way.  More...
Graveside funeral services for Thelma Neyland, age 75, of the Old Bowling Community, were held at 10 A.M., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Old Bowling Cemetery. Mike Haney officiated the service.
