The Bison led 17-15 after the first quarter as Ryan Rath led the scoring with 7 points. Bryce Ryder scored 6 and Jarrett Fishbeck connected for 4. The Bison had a good second quarter scoring 17 more points and led 34-25 and seized control of the game. Caleb Ayers scored 9 points in the second quarter, Shelley Pate and Dirk Kilgore scored 3 each and Ryder scored 2.

The Bison led by their largest margin early in the third period as they led the Tigers 38-27 and appeared on their way to a victory. At the end of the third period the Bison led 45-44 as they only scored 11 points with Ryder scoring 5, Jarrett Fishbeck 4 and Rath scored 2. The game was nip and tuck in the fourth quarter until Rath got a rebound and was fouled with the game tied at 58 and 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Rath sank a free throw to give the Bison a 59-58 lead. A few seconds later Kilgore was fouled and he sank a free throw to give the Bison a 60-58 lead. With 3 seconds on the clock the Bison inbounded the ball at mid court but the pass was stolen by a Tiger who dribbled across the half court line and made a desperation shot that went through the net as the buzzer went off and the Bison lost 61-60. Call the shot luck but give the Tiger player credit for intercepting the inbounds pass and making the shot.

Photo by Mac Shadix With the loss the Bison must defeat the Leon Cougars at Jewett on February 14th to secure the 4th and final playoff spot. Both teams have 4-7 records in district and the winner will play Rice who are champions of district 17-AAA. The Bison defeated Leon 55- 45 in Buffalo on January 20th. The Bison played Teague a close game on February 2nd as the Bison led by a point with 4 minutes left but Teague came back and won. The Bison led Malakoff 60-58 with 3 seconds left before Malakoff hit the desperation shot to win 61-60. The Bison are capable of defeating Leon if they are playing as a team and have a chance to defeat Rice in the first round of the playoffs. Teague won the district, Malakoff was second and Westwood came in third.
